Ordering the right part starts with the exact model number of your furnace. Many wood and coal furnaces look alike, and the same brand often sold several versions with parts that don’t interchange, so a few minutes finding the label saves a return.
Find the rating label
Every furnace carries a metal or foil rating label, sometimes called the data plate or certification label. It lists the manufacturer, the model number and the serial number. On most wood and coal furnaces it is on the back or side of the cabinet, near the blower housing, or inside the ash-pan or loading door. Use a flashlight, and wipe off soot gently: the label can be hard to read on older units.
Write down the model number exactly as printed, including any letters at the end. The letters often mark a different version.
Brand notes
- Ashley: furnace models include the 1330E, 1440E, 1600EF / 1660EFE, 1660E, AF700 and the 24 & 30 wood/coal units. Ashley parts
- Clayton, Hotblast and US Stove: these brands share a parent company and some models share parts, but not all. Check the full number, such as 1600G vs. 1600M. Clayton & Hotblast parts
- PSG / Caddy: the Caddy, Max Caddy and Mini Caddy, plus wood/oil and wood/electric combination units and the PSG2000 series. The combination units use different controls. PSG Caddy parts
- Hardy: outdoor models H2, H3, H4 and H5. Hardy parts
- Fire Chief: models include the FC500E, FC700E, FC1100E, FCOS1600 and FCOS2200D. Fire Chief parts
- Johnson: models include the J7300, J9000 and J9900. Johnson parts

I have a pellet insert. Im trying to figure out what model it is so i can get owners manual. It has a serial number of WH-57253 and was manufactred in November of 1992

Okay. I’ve got all the ash cleaned out. Ash cup and Tee are clear. The Damper cable is not connected to anything. Wh-q 28842 is the model number. Smoke fills the back of stove land the fire does not react with the door fully closed. It goes out. I can’t find the actual Damper to save my life. I believe it is closed. Please help! Thank you in advance. Frustrated.
No where do you identify that Quest stoves have wh-q for the serial number. Mine is 11010 and I assumed advantage II because that’s what the chart says. No. I have a quest.
